Jäkel supports nationwide “Girls’ Day” and gives schoolgirls a brief insight into traditional male professions

26th August 2012

In the course of the annual “Girls’ Day”, three schoolgirls spent a day at our company trying out their abilities in technical professions. This gave them a first insight into the fields of production, research and development, technical design and quality assurance and gave them the opportunity to experience how diverse and exciting these fields of activity can also be for girls.

Since the beginning of the “Girls’ Day” initiative in 2001, it has grown to be the most important project to support schoolgirls in their career orientation. The main objective is to make them familiar with apprenticeships and degree programmes in engineering, IT, in the craft sector and in natural sciences, i.e. professions in which women have hitherto been underrepresented.
